A babája-A's doll

Az egy éves születésnapjára készítettem, de már csupaszon is használatba vette, szerette úgy is. Aztán egy ideje mutogatta, hogy varrjunk neki ruhát, és végül készen is lett, a tunika meg a naci. Saját terv :) a cipő még hátravan :) és mindig könnyekig meghatódom, mikor magához szorítja, és úgy járkál vele fel s alá a lakásban. :)

A ruhácska anyaga T egyik nadrágjából maradt, a naci egy féltve őrzött, Luxemburgban kapott ajándék anyag, a kék pedig a maradék a takarója anyagából, ami már majdnem kész :)

 

 

It was a present for her first birthday, and as it was finished she started to use it naked. She loved it very much but some weeks ago she started to 'tell' me to sew clothes for it. And finally clothes are ready :) and she loves the dolly with her clothes and loves walking around the flat hugging the dolly. And that makes me absolutely happy and tears are coming to my eyes somehow :)

The dress is made of the fabric of T's capris, the little trousers are made of a fabric I got as a present in Luxemburg and the blue is some of A' s quilt (which is a WIP now) :) all designed by me :)

Őrangyalkák- Guardian angels

Elballagtak, sikerült időre elkészülni, Tvel átadtuk őket, úgyhogy mutogathatok :) a legeslegkedvencebb "iskolai gyerekeim" felnőttek (van, akinek az első iskolai napján is ott voltam már, egészen elképesztő...), és el is ballagtak, és imádom őket, úgyhogy azt gondoltam, őrangyalkák lennenek a megfelelő ajándékok, hiszen őrangyalra mindenkinek szüksége van :)

Tilda angyal volt az alap, kicsinyített formában, kb. 15-20 cm lett a teljes magasságuk. Mindegyik egy kicsit megpróbál valamilyen módon emlékeztetni "gazdájára". (Ez kicsit képzavar, érzem én is.....) Összesen nyolcan készültek, adtak nekem elég feladatot, ezért nem mutogattam mostanában mást.

A kiegészítők némelyike egészen picike lett. Rátettem őket a vágólapra, hogy látszódjon (cm-es beosztású).

 

 

Van, akinek 10 éves koráig mentem vissza az emlékkeresésben, és az akkori színdarabbeli szerepeikre utalnak a kiegészítők, vannak, akinek későbbi későbbi közös emlékeinkhez nyúltam.

Ő a kakukktojás. Neki nincs kiegészítője, mert a ruháján található mandala, ami rá emlékeztet. Ő tervezte a meghívójukra, onnan másoltam, egyszerűsítettem és hímeztem a ruhára.

 

Útra készen a csomagok..

My absolutely favourite 'little ones' have grown up and left school, so I made and gave them their presents and now I can blog them. It was a surprising experience, some of them was my student on her/his very first school day at the age of 6...

I decided on making guardian angels- everyone has to have one. I used the Tilda doll pattern, but I made them much smaller. They are about 15-20 cm total. I made eight of them, each has something personal of the 'new owner'.

The accessories are quite small, it is a cm checked board. They based on our memories e.g. The role of a schoolplay at their age of 10.

This is the odd one out. She has no accesory but the mandala on her dress which originally was designed and drawn by her to their invitation card from which I copied it. I had to make it simpler as it was impossible to sew it in this size. I quilted it on the little dress.

They are ready to be given...

Rongyikababás falvédő - wall hanger with dolls

T szobájában tündér keresztanyujának hála rongyikababa falimatricák vannak. Most már a tesóval osztozik rajtuk, de imádja őket. Egyértelmű volt tehát, hogy az ágya melletti falvédőre is ők kerülnek (egyértelmű azután lett, miután kb két hétig tanakodtam, milyen is legyen a falvédő...). A pitypangokat meg kicsi korától szereti... És én is - festeni.

Vettem tehát fehér anyagot, meg egy műanyag tálat, némi Columbus ruhafestéket (fűzöld, borsózöld és citromsárga, ezek voltak itthon), némi spárgát, fecskendőt meg a mikrót és nekiláttam.

Először a pitypangok fejét alakítottam ki, majd az egészet begyömöszöltem a tálba a zöld mixszel (ez trükkös volt, mivel egy óriási anyagdarabot festettem..), aztán bele injekcióztam a sárgát.

 

Száradás után jött a kedvenc részem, a varrógépes rajzolás. Mondjuk a kis ejtőernyők megrajzolása pitypangonként fél-egy óra volt.. Na ja..tényleg kicsi ejtőernyőket rajzoltam, és elképesztően sokat.... Majd levelek és szárak összesen három féle zöld cérnával.

 

Aztán a babák. T segített az anyagkombinációk kialakításában. 2,5 éves létére elég lelkes volt. ( a szemeket is ő válogatta az óriás gombos dobozból)

 

In T's room there are fabric dollies wall stickers which she loves. So after to weeks thinking it was obvious I made a dollie wall hanger for her. First I dyed the fabric in my micro. i decided to make dandelions. The I machine stitched the leaves and flowers... it took my ages but I enjoyed this part so much :)

The the dolls came. T helped me with the colours and she chose the eyes from my huge button box (being a 2,5 yo means enjoying life's every moment :)) I am so proud of her when she helps me with my designs :)

 

And yay finally it is in the wall :)

T babája - T's doll

Ez egy bejegyzés, amit már ezer éve meg akartam írni, valamikor júniusban. De persze nem sikerült, az idő meg repül. Mindegy is, térjünk a lényegre! Szóval ezt a babát T kapta az első születésnapjára. Volt egy szabásminta, amit még jóval T születése előtt meg akartam varrni, de sose jutott rá időm. Most tehát egyértelmű volt, hogy ehhez fogok nyúlni. Bár a végén annyi módosítást eszközöltem az eredeti mintán, hogy ez már sokkal inkább saját design.

A testhez a szokásos sima, mezei, ám elég erős IKEA vásznat használtam. Az arc minden részét hímeztem, nehogy valamit meg lehessen enni róla. Akkoriban T imádta az orrokat, ezért az orrot lecsippentettem az arcból, s mint egy extra dudir helyezkedik el rajta, így T rögtön tudta, hova kell a babának a puszit adni (ami akkoriban abban merült ki, hogy bekapta a "megpuszilt" személy orrát:)) A haja sem fonalból készült, hanem anyagcsíkokból, szintén a szopogatás problematikája miatt (persze sose vette a szájába a haját, de ki tudhatta ezt előre?! :)).

A ruhák levehetők, mert a tervek szerint, ha T megszereti a babáját, akkor a második szülinapjára egy csomó babaruhát, meg cipőt, meg egyéb kiegészítőt fog kapni, és akkor majd lehet öltöztetni :)

 

It is a post I wanted to write ages ago...somewhen in June... But time flies...sigh...OK, let' s skip it. So T got this doll as a late birthday present. Actually there was a pattern which I wanted to sew before she was born but I never had the time.... So it was obvious to choose that one for her for the first birthday... Hehe, but finally I made so many changes it is more like my design...

I used the simple and cheap but quite strong IKEA fabric for the body. I embroidered all the eyes, mouth, frickles as I did not want to make anything 'eatable'. She loved noses at that time so the nose of the doll is not only embroidered but a 'sewn extra'. The hair is not made of thread, but pieces of fabric, so there won' t be things in her mouth if she eats them (actually she didn't... But I was not sure...)

The clothes are not fix, as I plan to sew her a lot more clothes for the second birthday with accessories, shoes etc. So this way the doll can be dressed. :) If she will like the doll :)

Born today....

As you could read in the last post I was nearly frozen when my colleague saved me.....
She gave me bed and pyjamas and a warm smile. She saved me....
To show my gratitude I sewed her this tiny Dream angel (as I call her). She is a Tildas design. My colleague (let's call her M) has a wonderful bedroom with cream carpet, orange-red walls and white furniture. (sometimes some grey-black electric things, too)
That's why I chose orange fabric for the clothes and cream for the body. The moon is cream and the stars are grey.
To show you how tiny she is I took a picture of her when she was standing in the tulip bunch... She will go to M on Thursday, I hope they will like each other.

Eskimo

This was the job of last weekend... It is time to put it on blog.

So the story began several years ago in high school. On the first day I met a guy there, he was so tall (and I was the shortest in class) I could not see his head. Some weeks later I got to know him (his best friend was my classmate and friend....) and then a long and complicated realtionship started (a friendship I mean) with lots of laugh, fun, sometimes crying on the other's shoulders and lots of 'battles of words' (this is the way we call when 2 people are talking and teasing each other, making jokes on the other, and fighting through words...).

Our lives changed a bit since then, but I am always happy to meet and talk to him. Luckily we have some friends to spend some time with.

And at the end of January this guy had his 30th birthday. We celebrated it a week later just to make him a bigger surprise. In this branch people are nearly the same age, so this time we have lots of 30th birthdays to celebrate. It is a kind of tradition to make a huge and funny birthday programme on the 30th that is why we are busy this year. (And the birthday guys are frightened about the surprises before their big days....) He didn't want to have a huge party, but as he is one of the organizers of the other parties he couldn't avoid his faith.

An old joke was made on him was in connection with an eskimo. We decided to give him an eskimo, so I started to make it. I have never made one before so I looked for some pics on the Internet and designed this doll.

He is about 40 cm tall. His body is made of cotton fabric. I know he looks a bit strange, I have to be more careful with the pattern I draw (and not forget a piece on my desk and find it only a week later...) I used plush for the trousers and coat, some fur to decorate and a bit of embroidery, too. I never made a hood before so I had a look at my B's new jumper and miniaturized it. I didn't like to sew the fur, but it looked nice so I continued. (There was fur everywhere in the flat, on my clothes and in my nose.....brrrrrr...)

I had pieces of leatherette so I used them for the boots. This was the hardest part of the work. Luckily I had my pincers around and my fingers survived. It is not easy to sew leatherette even with special needle. I am not a fan of sticking things on a doll, but it was impossible to sew fur on the leatherette and I decided to stick it on with hot glue gun.

Finally I browsed the net again and drew some plans for the face. I embroidered it so I needed something simple, only the main characteristics of an eskimo face. I found some nice pics and they helped a lot. This was the best plan so I emboidered on the face with DMC.

I could not be there on the party but I hope he liked it. I got a thank you message from him but we haven't met since then so we couldn't have talked about it.

Patch? Witch!

Ah, this was a good weekend in the countryside with friends. This is a late post for the weekend.
The doll of October was a witch. We had a given picture and we had to make a witch based on it.

Here is my witch. I made some pictures while working so if you want to follow my work and make one doll, here is some help.

This is my own design (but not the picture what I got, I don't know its origin). The head, neck and body is cut of one piece (I wanted her to be able to hold her head, so I cut those of one piece and used a lot of filling in the neck.)
I had a lot of trouble with the arms and legs... They are very thin so it was not easy to turn them out.
Here is the doll....

As you see she is not a huge doll (about 15 cm). When I make a doll it is always the last step to make her face so she had to wait a lot more.....
As I am not a professional designer I used the doll to design her clothes so they are the right size.

The next step was the double dress. The patterned one with long sleeves, and the checked one without sleeves.
For the first one I used a blouse which I found in a second hand shop. Unfortunately it was not my size, but I loved the fabric, so I washed and ironed it at used a small part for this tiny dress.
For the other dress I needed a ribbon with pumpkins on. So I learned the 'needle painting' technique and tried to make my best (I posted about it before).

After the dresses it was time to make the hat. I used black plush for it. I needle painted the ribbon (I only had white satin ribbon but I needed purple) and finally I added some beads.
Her hair is made of knitting thread, and I embroidered her face. This is her half made hair:

Finally I made her tiny shoes and the broom. For the broom I used branches and those orange something (once I got a bunch of flowers from my friend and this was the decoration I was sure it was good for something but didn't know what. I got the answer when wanted something for the broom.). I stack them with glue gun.
And here is my witch (I know I am not good at taking photos, but hopefully I can improve my knowledge.)

Halloween contest 2007 - Hurray!

Today is time to be soooo happy!
I wanted to write about other things but then a wonderful thing happened... Arenanet team (the designers of the game Guild Wars) announce the winners of the Halloween Contest 2007.

I made a doll for this contest, a character of the game, named Mad King Thorn. It is a drawn character so I designed patterns for it and sewed it for a doll.
I am proudly tell you it was one of the winners of the contest. Thanks Arenanet! Happy Halloween to you and Happy Halloween to all my Readers! :D

There are some pictures of the little partsThe first thing I made was the body.... A very simple one of five parts (2 legs, 2 arms and a body).

Next were the boots. My first boot (actually I have made shoes or footwear before) designed. They were made of these parts:

After sewing all the parts together, I had this boot:



Then finally I made one more....

The next step was his armor (unfortunately I have no pic about it), then the had. it was not so easy, as it is something like a pumpkin. I got this beautiful orange fabric (for furniture) from an online friend. She was very kind as I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to go shopping fore ages till finding the prefect fabric. It was perfect for me:D


I was on a meeting with online friends when I made this pumpkin head. I wanted something bright for the eyes (lightning thingy), so I chose organza (actually I got a piece from another friend...) then I had to put some vetex on it, to make it stable. Ironing was not much fun as organza is totally 'plastic' so it does not like ironing. Finally I made the leaves of green plush which I had at home (luckily). Sewn and stitched by machine (the pumpkin is handmade as I had no sewing machine with me).
This is Mad King in his armor, but not totally finished armor.



I made the claws and the belt of plaster. (Which dries on air) and painted the belt with acrylic dye.

Scarecrow

Today I could finish my scarecrow. Hurray! On a doll making topic we decided to make a doll each month, but I am always late. Today I am so proud, this is the lat day of the month and my scarecrow is ready, I have taken a picture, so I have to wait a bit more and I can post him to the forum...

The rules are simple. We decide the topic and then choose a pattern or usually a template only. Everyone makes the doll using the given template, but adding extras is OK, so everyone tries to be creative. We mustn't show the pic till the last day of the month or the first day of the next month. Then we put all the pics on the forum and see how different dolls we make of the same pattern. It is funny.

My August doll (the fat German lady) is in a previous post and this scarecrow is the September doll. We had the template of the head, legs, arms and body. All the clothes are my own designs. The hat was a Tildas design and also the crow.

The 'pumpkin' is a crop I found in my hobby box.

The fat German lady

There is a forum with lots of doll maker friends. They make beautiful dolls, soft toys and other small things like fruits and veggies.

Once we talked about doll making and agreed that we put a bit of our heart in it. And it is funny how different dolls we can sew of the same template. Soon an idea came: what about using the same template and see how unique dolls we have at the end?

Now we have a template each month, we sew our dolls during that and at the end we show our dolls to each other on the last day. This was our second doll. I was late (I am always late.... I am a "last minute-sewer"...), so I finished her in the middle of September... (As you know the deadline was 31st Aug as this was the doll of August). It is a Tildas design called "bathdamer"... Maybe that is why I called her German lady...

I sew her of (horrible) pink fabric. The green and white striped fabric came from an internet friend who sent me lost of different pieces. I used the same for the cap. There are two mini yoyos on it as well.
I made her bag from an other remain of fabric. I stitched it by machine. Her towel is from terry cloth and the other side of it is a pink and white striped piece.

She has a drink.. You know it is very important to have liquid with you on a hot summer day. The fabric is hand dyed by me, the design is mine, too. The straw is made of something (I don't know what is it exactly, something like stick....) I found in my bunch of flowers. Those flowers were my last birthday pressie.

Finally I am happy with her, she is a funny lady I think. She has no name at the moment, but hopefully once I can find out the right name which suits her....

Easter-friends of Albert and John

As I told you in my post before at Easter I was in a big work. I made lots of (OK, the expression 'lots of' is relative... maybe 'lots of for me' is the right one) soft toys for family and friends. My first one was the sheep called Bárány made of terry cloth and the second was Albert, the bunny. He was mentioned in the post before. His best friend John is not in this picture as he was made some days after I had made the photo...

The next one was the other bunny (the green one). It went to an other friend of mine. I don't know if it already has a name or not and to tell you the truth I don't even know if it is a he or she. The funny thing about this bunny is its clothes. My friend (who is now the owner of it) gave me some old clothes to use them for patchwork. The trousers, hat and top of bunny were made of her trousers. The fabric was white linen with yellow flowers on it.

Goose was chosen by my step-father (some of the soft toys didn't tell me who they wanted for owner, so I showed all of them and the new-owners could choose soft toy friends for themselves). His clothes are made of an old flannel shirt of mine, which didn't suit me anymore.

My mum took the hen. It has blue trousers from new fabric, but its buttons I inherited from my mother-in-law. I wanted to make jeans-like trousers (I didn't want to use denim as it is too thick for a soft toy like this). Hen also has a hat but it always loses that.

Goose stayed at home with B. He is standing in front of the computer and maybe he is reading this post at the moment... :D
