Sunhat - napkalap

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

It was just a quick Saturday project as summer arrived last week and T had no sunhat. Without the "string" it is in 30 minutes so next time I will surely use string, not fabric.

She wanted a red one and she loves apples. The extra surprise for me was that I had some apple buttons from the last time when I was shopping 'just to have them' things. :) The other side is orange of course :)

Productive Easter Monday- sikeres Husvet Hetfo

Monday, April 6, 2015

Although I had only an hour for sewing I could make this cap-scarf set for T using all theleftover fabric of my scarf :) it was a long process to design them to fit to this small fabric piece (38x30 cm). But hey, they are good! She loves them.

Ha végre itt a nyár - sunhat 2014

Thursday, June 12, 2014

A tavalyi nagy sikerre való tekintettel idén megismételtük a napkalap projektet. Meglepetésemre kért rá kötőt. A cicát mintának is ő választotta :) . A minta a madebymarzipan.com oldalról származik, köszönet érte.

As it was a great success last year the sunhat project strarted again this year. I was surprised as she wanted a "string" for the hat. She chose the cat application, too. (It is always a pleasure as she usually falls in love with the figure then she makes it talk and move so I must draw a new one...:)) Each time the biggest problem is chosing the right fabric. I am walking around the flat for days thinking of the best fabric. I try to imagine the hat on her funny head with her beautiful smile in her great adventures. It is quite a funny hat as she is quite a funny and naughty little toddler. The original pattern was made by marzipan, thanks for it! I had to change it a bit because I wanted to turn not only the hat but also the string. This year I could use the original size, so next year I will have to make it bigger.

A szabásmintát a "Made by Marzipan" blogon találtam.

So I found this 'refashion' thing very addictive. I enjoy it so much. It started two years ago with two white and blue striped huge second hand blouses... I really wanted to buy 'sailor style' fabric but couldn't...

This time I had different reasons: in the kids second hand I found this dress which I fall in love with... And it really suits T very much, but it was size 3-6m and she is older than 13 m now... So I grabbed it and she tried it on at home. I happily sawt that I needed only five minutes and a stripe of fabric to make it a perfect spring outfit,(yes.....long ago and I haven't written this post yet...)

After having this cute dress I decided to sew a matching hat. I found the pattern on the 'Made by Marzipan' blog, but I had to make some changes as it was huge plus I needed 'string' (because of the baby carrying....with a baby on your back it is impossible to put the hat on if it was thrown away before... My arms are not long enough for that trick :)). String for a reversible hat is quite tricky but I managed :) for the photos I had Monkey as a model again. Monkey seems to enjoy this job:)

The hat was such a success I needed to sew another one for my friend's baby :)

B's hat - B sapkája

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Szóval szintén Barka fonalból (Diplomata) készült a sapka. :)

A sapka mintáját itt találtam:

I wanted to write this post ages ago as this cap was ready before I started the gloves which were posted weeks ago.... So this is also made of Barka yan (Diplomata) just like the gloves. It is a very thin but still warm cap. B was surprised when he first wore it after his old thick woolen cap.... :)

The pattern for the cap:http://sweetfiberdesigns.com/2011/01/14/a-tweed-hat-for-jason/

Unfortunately I lost the place where I found the funny 'pompom', but somewhere on ravelry.com it can be found, too.:(

Vedd fel a fonalat! - Take the yarn!

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

'Take the yarn!' Was the name of the Facebook group which I happily joined. They knit and crochet little hats, socks, and mittens for prematura babies. B was my helper as he went and immediately bought two of the yarn they recommended to work with. I asked him not to buy the typical boring pink-light blue baby colour combo :)

He wanted to be sure...he bought my favourites :)

Now the five little hats are ready to post. T does not sleep a lot but at the end I was so fast I could knit a hat in one and a half nappy time. I could not work when T was awake as she always pulled out one of my knitting needles...

Witch hat for Sári

Saturday, January 19, 2008

We don't celebrate Halloween, but we have carnival instead. This s the 'magical season' when we have balls and children can wear costumes. We have this party every year in school. The little ones have a competition of the costumes.

My colleague has a sweet little daughter, Sári who is 8 now. She wants to be a witch, so I decided to make her a hat for that.
Years ago my class dressed up as Harry Potter and they wanted me to be McGonagall. So I became a witch with my students (that was a beautiful moment for me when the chose this role for me, I had tears in my eyes. It was a big thing, I think she is the best teacher in the novel, so maybe you understand why I felt like that.) I made myself a witch hat then, so I had some experience which helped this time.

I used aluminium wire as a base of the hat. (This was the wire I used for my hat and I needed to make small changes only.) We bought half a metre of black fabric which I sew on the wire. Unfortunately Sári slept when I finished (actually I could start when she went to bed) so I don't have a picture about her in the hat, but she was very satisfied next morning when she tried on her hat. I hope she will be beautiful in that in February when we'll have carnival.
